Purpose:
The purpose of this paper is to explore the conceptual meaning of cloud computing for mobile communication. The paper answers the question "what is the mobile cloud computing?" and how it relates to the concept of generic cloud computing? Design
/ methodology / approach: This is an explanatory conceptual document,
based on literature review and exploration of possible use cases,
focused on the use of mobile cloud service platform or infrastructure
access . The
authors exclude the discussion of the concept of traditional cloud in
back office processes of telecom operators and service providers. Findings:
When the cloud focuses on the sharing of resources, mobile technology
focuses on pooling and sharing of resources to local cases of
alternative use for mobile infrastructure, platforms and services. The paper discusses the relevant concepts and provides examples of use cases. Research limitations / implications: The value of mobile cloud solutions is still not explicit, but needs more attention. Research should focus on the relationship between the mobile cloud computing platforms and ecological systems. From the user's perspective willingness to share common resources requires more attention. Practical
implications: cloud mobile computing offers the possibility of harmful
applications could affect the mobile ecosystem; strengthen
or weaken the business models of the key players and mobile phone
providers, telecommunications operators and service providers. Originality / value: Much attention is paid to cloud computing and platform discussions, roles in the mobile cloud are scarce. This paper examines the current state of the art and a research perspective is offered.
